Would the quartz count if it came from a treasure chest? Brought down there, by say, a tool that increases treasure chest spawns?

Wonderful game, but there are a few things I wonder about
- I have no idea how to get quartz in the magma layer
- I have all the best tools, but I just can't get the fashion statement achievement. Any tips? I've been doing horizantal sweeps every 5-6 layers where it gets dark to not miss any restore cells
