I have just completed a play through with all possible inventory items collected. I found only 2 problems. The 1st was that some doors previously opened by cards would remain open.  I do not remember this happening in the original game. The second was that the boss music for the tank did not play the first time I reached it. I was able to walk off the screen, and then it would play for 1 second, then stop and go back to the normal exploration music. I died and the next time I reached the tank the boss music played correctly.

Was Schneider removed from this port? I never received any of his transceiver calls. This includes the call where he tries to tell us who is behind everything.

Cheers. It was a treat to play through this game on my Analogue Pocket!

I had previously collected up to card 6 in 1.0. I updated to 1.1 and found my save was no longer available. I started playing through again from the start. This time I am experiencing bugs not found in 1.0.

The 1st is that the music stops. This happens randomly. It only resumes when a hit a boss fight, enter a check point, or restart the game. Sometimes I kinda feels like it's reached the end of the track, it's strange. Also when exiting the tank boss and returning (like walk right), the music resets to the stage audio and not the boss audio.

The 2nd issue is  graphical anomalies appearing after accessing the inventory. They seem to be comprised of the last thing Interacted with. Like if I just entered a door, I'll see a door. If I just killed some dogs, I'll see the dog sprite. This goes away only if I restart the game. This again happens randomly, doesn't always occur, and I can't seem to cause it to happen on purpose (wish I had more info for you).

I am playing on the Analogue Pocket Genesis core v1.08.

Hi. Any chance of a DarkSoft compatible ROM?

Instructions to build them are here: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/how-to-convert-files-to-work-with-neogeo-multi.24393/

Peace

As a software developer of 30+ years, I would like to add that being 'nit picking or OCD' is how you fix bugs and reach a complete project. Returning to a complex project years later for an update isn't as fun as it sounds!

"A lot of effort went into getting this even more visually accurate than my previous port..." To me, this reads that pointing out the background isn't blue-morning but instead orange-evening could be extremely significant. There is no mention of this change in the release notes. As a result, I to would assume it's an overlooked bug.

Your comments were respectful, detailed, and informative. What the developer decides to do is up to them and xchester77 shouldn't be speaking for someone else.

Peace.

Hi. The DarkSoft ROM works great on the Analogue Pocket. Thank you! For anyone wondering, I used 2020 Super Baseball.json as a donor for this port.

The included readme is still geared towards the Shinobi release and contains info for that port.

Cheers!

Hi. Thanks! This is fun and brings back a lot of memories. My only issues is the intro text, it scrolls way to fast. I just don't read that fast. My brain just can not comprehend and I feel like I'm missing out on a major part of the story. Cheers.

Thanks. It turns out some .json files have other info associated with them (like audio offsets). I do not have the ability to run the python script to build .json files for the core. I ended up finding a basic .json that would work. I think I used 2020bb. Cheers and thanks for the assurances.

How? I do not understand. I tried to use an existing .json but it did not work.
