This game was definitely a challenge and very punishing. That being said, I disagree with Varii saying to drop this idea. I think it just needs some tweaks to give the player more control, like maybe a 3rd jump and probably more time between using your flame and dying. I liked the 'fling' mechanic personally, though I did find it to be somewhat unpolished. I definitely see what you're going for it just needs more tuning and probably won't be for everyone as it's skill based. The main thing is when the player dies it needs to feel like their fault and not the game's fault. Outside of that, the music was immersive, pixel art was decent. I liked the vibe of the overall theme. Keep up the good work!
note: there is a bug that happens when you switch between maps too fast that locks you in the entryway. I found that if you blindly jump and shoot your flame to die it will reset you back into the map.
I tried again knowing that I can right click and got to about 80% save file! You got a lot going on here just needs some tweaking here and there to make things more user friendly like adjusting rates of things like crafting drops and rock hp. Still, this was a neat little game and it's awesome that I can come back to my save file and keep playing on the web! I need to learn how to do that for my games!
Very hard once you get boss to 69 health the shots are faster than you can swing. Maybe add some powerups that drop to let you move faster and encourage the player to move. If you stand still, you can get away with just deflecting until it gets too fast but then he always shoots out my legs. Nice work! I tried so hard to beat it.
This was very spooky! The jump scare got me a few times at first. The need to manage which item to carry forward kept the tension going. I finished all three tents but got a gray screen at the end. The last tent said mother wasn't there then just cut to a gray screen so I'm not sure what the ending was if I got to it... anyhow this was a great concept and well-made other than the issue at the end!
I learned trying to publish and submit that I almost shot myself in the foot with asset file size. I had to downgrade some assets last minute to make it web friendly for the jam and got a little nervous it wouldn't work so I hear you there! That's totally fair to ask for easier to read dialogue! Thank you so much for playing! 💜
I liked your take on mining, bringing up a little mini game was a neat idea. I had some trouble closing interactions which ultimately kept me from finishing the game. The only way I could figure out to close interactions was using esc but that also brings up the pause menu, so it got tiresome having to close pause every time. There did not seem like a working way to close the inventory so I would have to exit to main menu and reload the save.
The game looks really good, and the sound design and mechanics are great! I would like to play this all the way through sometime if I could figure out how to get past the small problems I faced.
Nice work! I finished the game and loved the dialogue and story building.
I had some trouble with the physics lol. Got launched a few times but one time it was to my benefit! Was a good idea to implement a way to get unstuck. The platforming was hard at times, sometimes the way the character reacted to falling when a platform goes down would get me killed. I did follow your request and pressed F6 upon entering level 3. Not sure if it was supposed to happen, but I carried the friend at the end along for the ride.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and great looking game, it just needs some polish on the physics and controls to make it less punishing for reasons out of the player's control.
This was stupid in a fun way. I love stuff like this. A testament to how sound is important to keeping the player going. Kept wanting to hear that doo doo ding success sound lol. My initial game idea for this jam was a key game inspired by the flying keys in Harry Potter. I was hoping this would be something like that kind of a where's Waldo but still great submission. :D
