I can definitely understand that. From experience with my submission, the limited time frame means that you can only really emphasise so many tricks.

If you say that a lot of this was done in the last 5 hours, then you should definitely be pleased with yourself.

An enjoyable experience with the use of light and dark creating a strong sense of urgency when in tandem with the enemy and bottomless pit placement.  I think that two things that would help this game out are if the torch depleted faster, which would emphasise the light and dark conflict as well as make the battery collectables more important, and if there was an indicator of a double jump on the tutorial screen for a tricky jump midway through the game.

I think getting the approval of the creator of your basis can be really encouraging for something like this.

It's also great how such a game can both be enjoyable whilst having some educational value. Very rarely can that kind of balance be found; especially when you're working with a rather abstract interface, like you were saying when it came to mixing fun and ease of use.

I really enjoyed the story you were going for with this one. It might be how I interpret what you're going for, but I thought it was a fun take on how you'd typically portray light in the dark. The art style and font design are also really good here. It was great to see what was going on with your character sprite. The main things I will say are that some changes to the sound design and how the character played with each room would enhance the experience more.

A really fun and charming way of getting newcomers into "machine language".  I genuinely think a computing curriculum could use ideas like this. There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but I have a feeling this was probably the intention.
The use of colours is also worth a mention as they really help to sell the "toy-like" feel.
Don't take the audio being at 1 stars personally. It just indicates that there is no audio. I think it was a wise decision not to have it given that it will not appear at machine-level.
