I’d say I’m pretty dang proud of our placement. While I hoped that we could’ve gotten in the top 1000 overall, I’m still really happy that we got a high ranking in Enjoyment. This was the first game me and my friends worked on, and considering I (the only programmer) had to juggle this project with my finals, all while half our team was unavailable for nearly the whole week, I’m content. Audio being low makes sense considering it was made last minute. My only complaint was getting more ratings, because nearly every positive comment was posted in the last couple of days of the jam.

very well said. i love game jams like these in the sense that not only do you get to improve your skills, but also get to be a part of a community. would appreciate if you could check our game out :]

this is the best thing my eyes have ever seen.. i have been blessed by the WONDERFUL, AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL game ive ever played. finding your game is like finding 100 $ bill on the side of the road. i played it till the very end.

the artstyle, the color palette, the amount of thought put into the polish for this game is immaculate.

my mind was filled with DETERMINATION the hamsters were SALT CUUBE (so cute)and finding the world explode and the end i was never this stimulated in my life this game changed my life

wow. just wow. i cannot put into words how utterly awe inspiring this game is. the artstyle? perfect. the gameplay? perfect. i genuinely wish you the best on your endeavours. love the game mate

  • Yes, the upgrades have a 7% of spawning every time an enemy dies. It originally used to be 15%, but it ended up becoming way too overpowered (one of our playtesters got a score of over 400k points). I didn’t really want to complicate things with a loot pool or spaced out upgrades.
  • The down slam mechanic was actually added at the very last minute during the 24 hour window in an attempt to add more “spin” to the game. Glad to know it somewhat helped.
  • There are 4 different upgrades. Yes, the speed increases only left/right movement. This was implemented way before the down slam, so you really didn’t have a way of dodging properly.
  • This one’s on me. I didn’t want to spend time learning how Godot can save values. It may be easier when it comes to saving a single integer, but I didn’t want to dabble in all that.
  • The in-game music was made through Pico-8, in an attempt to give it a retro feel. Unfortunately, due to the built in constraints I couldn’t get a long song.
  • We had the code ready for it, actually. Half of our team was unfortunately busy for almost the entire Jam, so we didn’t have enough time to get the assets finished.
  • I dunno. A jumping horse seemed cool to add.
  • This one, again, is on me. I didn’t want to deal with having to make the game pixel perfect, and since our team is full of relatively amateur pixel artists, I didn’t want to put too much work on them with the background (otherwise the sprite would’ve been too big).

We really appreciate the feedback! Glad to know you had some fun! :]

Good luck in the Jam, too!

the only game so far that received all 5 stars from me, amazing game!

The retro theme was done top notch. I'm not really a fan of pixel perfect platformers, but this short little experience was some good fun!

Nice, slow and cozy, very enjoyable!
