There aren’t strict requirements on the difficulty of minigames; the rule is a gentle reminder to consider the players’ experience and prioritize accessibility.

A popular example is when Cuphead locks you out of the final two bosses and the game’s ending if you only fought in simple (easy) mode. There was significant backlash, as players weren’t informed of this effect from the start, and those who weren’t fully able-bodied may not ever experience the entire story.

Visual novels are narratively focused first and foremost. Is the mechanic so integral to the plot that content may be locked away from certain players? Dynamic difficulty adjustments can be made, but it may be out of the scope of this jam.

Ultimately, it’s up to you, and your entry would not be disqualified from the jam regardless of how you choose to implement the minigames.

hi, i can’t see the page. did you set it to public?

oh i can’t access the page?

this jam runs once a year during the month of may, but the page will be live in january for 2027, and you can start then. if you’re planning for a 2026 release, let me know and i can give you a late submission link as long as it’s december 31 or earlier.

if you already have the game ready, i can give you a late submission link

Yes, the protagonist can be male, as long as there are fem characters with significant roles in the story.

genuinely this visual novel has a special place in my heart i’ve cried several times while playing this. the writing is beautiful, i love the art, and the voice acting? the voice acting oh my god if this isn’t one of my favourites i don’t know what is thank you so much for making this, team

thank you! i had to submit it incomplete due to health reason, but i’m really glad you liked what was there for now

where was this when i needed it? /j thank you so much, it’s really insightful! hopefully i can apply it to future jams awhdgsh

this is why you shouldn’t go all in… /lh

10/10, absolutely love the characters they're so cute

vitus is so beautiful, and i love his voice! i really want more

i love mills's design, and the art style is really pretty! (the doorbell lmao)

what a cute cat! i love the message, how you managed to convey something a lot of people consider hard in such a simple way. it was pretty touching to me!

i love love love the pathetic muddy man chained to a cart! he looks so cute, and jett did a great job voicing him. there is a small mistake with chance being unshackled even if you choose not to free him, but overall i really liked this!

the story is really interesting! i like the battle with the girl, and how the choices affect how it’s played out. the designs are so pretty too, i love all of the characters.

thank you!

thank you so much!

a really adorable human! thank you for playing.

thank you!

the story is really interesting. love the designs, especially for maestro allegro and lord forte! i also like the voicelines a lot.
