More fun than I first expected. One issue I had - the manual upgrade button adds a bit of friction to the process.

I would suggest removing the Upgrade button, since there's never really a reason NOT to upgrade your time. Then replace it with a couple of labels so that the round end screen looks like:

Energy collected: 2

Time increase: +4.00 seconds

[Retry button]

So you only ever need to click "Retry", and the time upgrade is applied automatically. Alternatively, if you want to allow the player to challenge themselves by choosing whether or not to apply the upgrade, try:

Energy collected: 2

Time increase: +4.00 seconds

[Ignore Upgrades and Try Again]

[Apply Upgrades and Try Again]

Either way, it removes an unnecessary extra click from the flow.

Game existed before the jam, but based on feedback I redesigned the game so that different weapon type upgrades now upgrade each weapon's reload speed rather than their likelihood of appearing. This gives players the choice of what shot type to use and when.

Since this was a major design update I figured this game jam was a good opportunity to force myself to do it while also potentially getting some feedback on the redesigned gameplay.

Hmm, that's strange. It works fine for me on both Windows and Mac. What browser and OS are you using?

I've addressed most of your feedback. The backgrounds and general look I'll have to play around with, but at the very least the mouse controls and zoom have been fixed up so the UI should feel less broken. I really appreciate the detailed comments, thank you for trying out the game! It means a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. The initial time was intentionally balanced to allow JUST enough time to unlock the first upgrade (or just barely not enough time if you were a little slow). I've reduced the extra time upgrades to 5 seconds though, hopefully it helps.

I wasn't, but I will now based on this feedback. Thank you for the honest thoughts! You may have a point about the font, and the scaling is an issue I'll take a look at.

How does it feel bad to use? Is there a specific pain point I can address?

Probably, haha. It would be a little too morbid to actually show them though :)

How long did you play if I may ask? I'm wondering if it might be a problem as the game runs longer and longer.

(1 edit)

Oof, silly oversight on my part. I've got it fixed now, thank you for playing the game!

It's an idle game :) You just improve the dogs between rounds and leave them be while you run this in the background. That being said, would you like it if I introduced customizable times? I've been wondering myself if 5 minutes might be too long.

It's also worth noting there is no penalty for ending the round early, so you can leave it for a minute or two, then back out - you'll keep whatever coins you've earned.

Thanks for playing! Do you mean the UI is not clear, or just that it needs to look a bit better?
