Yeah, we had some other ideas that were more creative, but given the time constraint and our current skill level we didn't think we could complete them within the time constraint.
As for the submitted game, we had planned on adapting it some so it was not just asteroids. The original idea was to treat "control" as a resource and as your control or energy depleted you would lose control of your ship. We implemented the energy meter and the power up to charge it , unfortunately we ran out of time to make energy actually do anything..
This was the first game jam that we actually submitted something though. Even if it is uninteresting, we are happy that it is at least a playable game. =)
We look forward to getting more experience and returning next year to create something a little more interesting.
