I LOVED your game! The watercolor artwork is beautiful. Using watercolor played into the underwater vibes so well, especially paired with the background music. Getting to use different action buttons to investigate gave the story more of a sense of freedom. I also really liked the change up to the default Arcweave layout with making it a panel on the right instead of just below. Really let the scene artwork shine. Hooray for the resiliency of the ocean through all that we do to it! Also, shout out to little tinned fish can hermit crab for being the cutest thing I've ever seen. <3
I really enjoyed the use of color in the artwork to reflect the emotions of the writing-- the cool-toned, darker colors for the shadows/ creeping sadness scenes, juxtaposed with the energetic, colorful/warm scenes for when you were trying to focus on the positive. Or like when the baker got angry at me (the scene went from golden tones to red). Kept me immersed. The ever-lurking dark emotions shadow you have to try to overcome was a nice representation of mental health struggles. I got the Phoenix ending! :D
Thanks so much for playing it and giving feedback for us! We totally agree some of the puzzles were a bit weirder or tougher in some spots. We'll definitely be planning to improve our puzzles and hints if we continue it. Thanks for pushing through some of those weird obstacles to give it a shot and give feedback about the difficulty-- we really appreciate it! :]
Thanks so much for the feedback! Oh yay! So glad you got one of the endings where you save the kitties! We definitely want to do better puzzle planning and hints if we build the concept out further to improve those overly weird, tough spots you guys are hitting. haha Fun side note-- there are actually 2 different possible "save the kitties" final endings: a decent one, and then an extra good one :0 We were going to put Ending Ranks so people could know which ones they got, but it didn't make it in in time 🥲
Even though you said you didn't finish, I think it's an interesting take on the resilience concept-- trying to kind of help emotionally support heroes as a third party to help THEM have resilience. I also like the use of the trope of a monster dungeon portal just magically appearing in town one day. I found that delightful and fun haha
