Yeah, ADSR I absolutely want to implement, but it’s a bit tricky with how Web Audio is structured. If you were operating in a controlled environment, you could place ADSR automations on a parameter timeline and call it a day. But we have to consider that someone can change an envelope parameter mid-play, and this should affect the shape in realtime.

One approach is sampling the current value on change and plotting out new timeline events based on the new values. (You can erase all pending ones!)

Another approach is going full custom DSP mode and creating an envelope generator that tracks its own values and generates an offset to use as a “CV”. Probably the saner approach in the long-term, but requires more up-front research.

As for MIDI support, also planned. The only reason it hasn’t been more of a priority is because that’s a Blink-exclusive (Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc.) feature, and a lot of folks from the jam probably don’t have MIDI equipment. That said, jam’s over, I want to implement MIDI now. Maybe even set up an Electron (ugh) build so it can be run standalone.

Thank you! I’m so happy to hear folks have had fun toying with it and making sounds!

Delighted to hear you’ve had fun playing with it! Thank you!

Thank you! The oscilloscope actually came about because I was trying to figure out a weird audio issue 2/3 the way through the project. Turns out the stock BiquadFilterNode behaves weird when you use a sub-1Hz frequency and starts slowly biasing the signal until you can’t play anything anymore because it’s saturated to all hell. Once I figured out that issue, I figured what the hey, leave it in as a fun visual treat. A spectrum analyzer you can toggle between would be a good addition, especially once more automation features are implemented.

Thank you!! 💜 I was concerned that it might be on the inscrutable side to a non-musician, because it’s so easy to misjudge where the baseline is after you’ve done something for a long time. Glad to hear it was fine and you had a bit of fun making sounds!

Would you believe that was one of the last parts I worked on, despite being the easiest part? The funny debug frequency slider is how I played it up until yesterday, though it was configured for semitones. I figured after the keyboard was done, making it cent-based was more interesting. I’m hoping to take that and make a proper touch strip out of it.

I love that you saw a little thistle while out, and it moved you to write a poem about it. That’s beautiful. 💜

Very cute and made me smile!

Hope I, Fish Rock City, have a fun fact day at the Fun Fact-ory

I will chase cars for fun.

Yesss, typewriter terminals!! Very cute illustrations!

Awesome little challenge platformer that rewards you for being methodical and paying attention. Oh how many times my poor goat has gone careening off an icy ledge…

I do like Goats! :P

Ah yes, it’s always fun to boot up a GB game on the GBC and see what the game looks like with different palettes! Sometimes even revealing secrets…

they made it so you can do literally anything with these damn browsers, it’s crazy!

A very charming way to play with presenting FUN FISH FACTS. I’ve learned so many things about fish I never knew before! Thank you FISHERMAN DAVE for the FUN FISH FACTS!

Incredibly beautiful and evocative, innards poured out on to digital pages awash with colors and words that twist and turn like that of the lizard’s tail.

I very much enjoyed listening to this! The fun synth percussion reminds me of how I had to make my own synth percussion in high school because portable FL Studio couldn’t load its DRM’d samples. Also a big fan of the choice of sounds, like the softer and mysterious side of the Mega Drive. Impressive work for your first time!

A delightful and endearing look at some bugs and friends! Love the fun sounds and illustrations. It was also fun to see the process of how this was made, too!

A fun little game with excellent character designs, delightful animation, and a touch of platforming challenge! It felt very good to play this on my Game Boy Color.

Literally Anything Can Be Peanuts Jam

glad they finally made bustling legal for this jam

This was a delightful and charming puzzle game, with a [Secret Technique] I haven’t seen before in similar block pushers! It felt well-utilized too, which is not something you can say for all games that try to introduce a new mechanic into a well-established genre like this. And the charming pixel art is a delightful cherry on top!

For a first game, this is excellent work. If you go on to make other games, I look forward to checking them out!

Whoa, a kindred spirit! I also organize all our cables like this, and it was a life-changer! Also love the shout out to over-under cable wrapping, truly an underrated life-saver. I’ve been wanting to make a guide on this, but now I can just direct them here instead since you’ve already made an excellent one yourself.

The one extra step I take in separating out types of cable bags: I sort them into one of three drawers in an IKEA ALEX cabinet, most used bags in front: A/V cables, power cables, and data cables. It narrows down my search a lot, and I can just kinda throw a cable in there if I need to clean it up in a hurry and put it away proper later.

Oh, this is awesome… Love a fun pun and a little creature!

Now that the theme’s dropped and the jam’s officially started, I wanted to wish everyone luck with their creative endeavors! Make sure to have fun with it! Looking forward to seeing what interesting things we all create for the jam. 💜
