You have a point, but not entirely. I wrote that comment two months ago, and my thoughts were different back then. I didn’t appreciate ‘slow burn’ games back then and wasn’t familiar with terms like ‘blue balling’ - “slow burn” etc. I used to think these games were a waste of time which is why I commented like that, but now i’ve come to appreciate their depth.
However, I still disagree with the notion that character and plot development are more important than including adult content. You can effectively integrate adult elements without compromising the story’s engagement and character development. Critiques like mine reflect personal taste; many people criticize media that doesn’t align with their preferences, leading to subjective reviews. Over time, I’ve learned to be more objective in my critiques.
Speaking of your last paragraph is so cringe and totally unnecessary. The creator isn’t a child. If they’re that easily affected by every kind of criticism, they shouldn’t be sharing content publicly to millions. I get you felt the need to defend because the creator seemed ‘victimized’ by my critique, and people usually want to side with the underdog, but what you’re doing is childish and overly emotional. It seems like you defended the creator without even trying the game, feels fake and off-putting. I had at least played it before making my comments.
Additionally, for ‘Adult Visual Novels,’ it’s natural for people to expect some adult content early on. If a game is a slow burn, this should be clearly stated in the description to manage expectations. The presence of a ‘planned fetish’ list like ‘vaginal sex,’ suggests that adult content is expected to be added towards the end of the game. Even in ‘slow burn’ games, at least some content like handjobs or blowjobs are mostly provided early on to keep the player’s interest. After all, we’re playing ‘Adult Visual Novel,’ not just ‘Visual Novel,’ for a reason my dude. If there’s no adult content, there’s no need for the ‘Adult’ tag. Seeing games that have been developed for two years and still haven’t added adult content makes me think I’m still right about this.
