They did this last year. Hate to say it but you just lost all of your save data.

I tried to start the story again, but it just takes me to the recent update and I can't get past it.

They'll re-post the old (real) version of the game again tomorrow. But if it's like last year, you'll need to start over from the beginning because your old saves will no longer be compatible with that version of the game.
