How do I update this game without repeating the story again because I'm too far gone to start over
depends on the platform you are playing on. On android download and open the .apk and click update. It is very important that you do NOT uninstall the old version, except you want to lose all your saves. On Windows/Mac download the new version and extract it to the exact same location of the old version and overwrite it. Or you can use the itch app to download and update games easier
