I'm glad you pointed this out. Because I very much feel the same way - I spent a rather large amount of effort on the head and eye-look animations, and struggled to think of a way to let the player get to know the character's face.
I have some ideas for this, but opted against it for fear of missing the deadline.
Also, I get where you're coming from in terms of the snow itself - I think I had more fun solving the technical challenges of "How do I make this work" rather than incorporating the snow in some meaningful way (outside of the obvious).
