Sorry for the late reply, I don't log into itch.io often so this slipped my mind. I did give your suggestions a try, and the game lasted maybe a minute longer, but ultimately still crashes. Oh well, these things happen. I'd like to give it a shot in a virtual machine, but that's a project for another day. Anyway, thanks for your input!
