I have to say, from my current point of view I'm not happy with this and I can not recommend it. I bought the first season, because I didn't realize, how small the episodes really are and how many seasons are planned. Don't get me wrong, the writing is decent, the quality is good, but the pricing is through the roof. There are 30 episodes planned and I assume they will all cost 11$, which for me is a bit more than 12€. I also assume they will all be split up into chunks of 5, thus 6 seasons. That means 66$ or around 75€. There are AAA titles cheaper than that. And if this was some interwoven masterpiece, okay, but it seems the decisions you made are not really carried over between episodes. Not sure if the stats are maybe carried over, but if not this is pretty much a kinetic vn in the coat of a decision based one.

I think developers need to earn money. That's why I support other games (not sure if I'm allowed to name those, as that might be considered advertising them?) on Patreon and buy them when they intrigue me. But this one feels like too much for me. One of the reasons why I made the mistake of buying this, is because I  have a grasp on how much a game is worth and I just didn't think that the amount of content I got at the end could be what I was charged 11$ for. Just never crossed my mind. I thought I'd get like half a game for 11$ or rather the finished first season of a game, not a sixth of a game that is essentially in early access.

The misjudging of what is offered here is on me. There might be room for improvement, but I could have understood, what was offered here. I just want to appeal to the devs of this game to reconsider their pricing options and think of their game as a single game (because it is, although it's neither priced nor developed as a single game. But just one part of this game certainly doesn't feel like a complete game.) I get that this was a lot of work but in the end this is unreasonable pricing. And no, referring people to patreon is not an excuse. Just make sure people can buy(!) your whole game for a price that is comparable to similar games everywhere. Sure, make Patreon a cheaper option (and hope that people don't mind continuing the support), but don't let anyone pay 22$ for 20% of an unfinished game. That's just not right.

I'd happily change my comment to a positive recommendation for what is in it's essence a promising game, when I can expect to pay somewhere around 20-25$ max for the whole game here on itch.io, no matter how exactly the price model looks. But 66$ just won't cut it.

Thank you for your input and feedback. The Builder is a passion project, and the revenue is unfortunately insignificant, compared to the amount of work that goes into creating something on this level. The project has many flaws, but hopefully the qualities outnumber them.

The best pricing option for those who want to follow the development of the game is to head over to Patreon or SubescribeStar. By becoming a supporter there, you also gain access to the Discord server and can follow the weekly (and sometimes daily) updates.

I have considered creating a season 2 subscription package, so that you will get the whole season for one price, but I haven't had the time to set it up yet. It sounds from you feedback as that might be an idea.

Best,
