This is 5/5 for me. I really like this black and white art style. This East vibe is just perfection... You did hard and intresting gameplay. I really want to see more enemies and mechanics in future, if you will do something with this game. Well done!

Developer

thanks, we already have all the animation for a samurai enemy completed and are working on a female farmer enemy too as well as an archer soon. We plan to keep working in this and maybe releasing the game on steam when it is finished.

let me know if you have any cool ideas you want to see in the game, we would love to hear them.

It's nice to hear that you want to release this game. What about ideas... I really intresting in demons and mystical stories of Japan culture. (I didn't pass your game to the end.. (I tried... I'm too weak... but I'll never give up xD), so I think this blood on the tree is something demonic or smth like that?) So, maybe some demons bosses?

Developer

interesting, I'll bring up the idea with my friend Budgeri, who worked on the game with me. If you intend on playing the game again, try using these secret cheat codes that are in the game:

if you hold the "z" key, and press 8, it will spawn additional enemies to fight (press the button more times to spawn more enemies)

if you hold the "z" key, and press 0 or 9, you can change the red vine to grow all the way or ungrow completely

It's good, i got stuck learning the combat for a bit, but other than that it was fun to play.

Developer

im really sorry to hear that the game couldn't load for you.

Thankyou for letting me know, I was aware that it can take upto 1 or 2 minutes, but I will definately get to work fixing the problem when I can if it can't load at all. If you don't mind,, what operating system are tou using? (e.g. apple, windows, etc.)

Submitted

Developer

The graphic design is beautiful, and the combat is simple yet engaging. I feel like the game is lacking in effective use of the theming, the tree doesn't really add anything apart from being a cool set piece. Other than that, this is an excellent game!

Developer

I'm really glad you enjoyed the game.

I admit, that the role of the tree for gameplay is very abstract and indirect, but the goal of the game effectively is to protect the tree as your character needs it for recharging stamina.

here is a more detailed explaination of the mechanic if you want to read it:

Although it is not explained in text, the more you kill, the more the red vines choke the tree, and as this happens, the white orbs that come from the tree which recharge your shield at the start of each round will slowly be currupted and turn red (when this happens, they will no longer recharge your shield), so by protecting the characters "oath", you protect the tree and last longer, which is the goal of the game.

sorry for such a long reply.

Interesting game!  Took me a bit to get the combat flow, but once I did it can be quite an interesting concept.

Developer
