your save should be perfectly fine if you just follow the update instructions
Where can I find those?
They come with the update folder as the README.txt file. if you were previously on version 0.16 and want to update you would need to download the v0.16>v0.17 PC PATCH files not the 0.17 download, then follow the instructions in the README.txt
