wow the game-loop kept me playing for I don't know how long hahaaha. I love this game dude. It was so much fun. Thanks for creating it. I wish I could suggest improvements or expansion ideas but I really like it already. It's awesome. May be a small storyline would have helped? I don't know.

Very cool game! I like it a lot! I wouldn't mind if it were longer, it feels fun to go through. I did notice a bug: the music plays over itself when returning to the main menu after beating the game.

I love the concept and it plays so nicely :) Its super fun, responsive, polished and cute, i can see this becoming a medium/long adventure with narrative and all. Good job!!

More!

This game is pretty fun! It could use better indicators to what room you're in / Better ways to keep up with the information the game throws at you. Otherwise, this is a really good game and I enjoyed it a lot!

I liked this game too! Half-agree with you, half-don't! I think the lack of a map is part of what makes the game fun. I think it would be too easy if you could see where you were on a map for instance. So I think too much of a change would ruin the game. But maybe some slight tweaks would not simplify things too much.

well, you can mark a room or item by right clicking it with either a red or a green mark. i just learned this, and its super useful

love the gameplay loop, would live to see an expansion of the mechanics and more difficulty to it. This game is awesome man, great job!

very well done the game is rather balanced the only thing I want is more levels because it was so good

Such a simple and fun little game loop! I'd love to see more of a lean into the file/folder concept in the mechanics.

It would be great if the breadcrumb menu at the top of the interface was clickable to backtrack a few rooms at a time. For additional content, you could think about adding some puzzles that would involve copying/pasting files from previously explored rooms (.eg copying MagicRune.jpeg into a folder called "MagicRuneIndentation") or changing filetypes to make them work in different contexts (.eg changing "bridge.mp3" to "bridge.jpeg" to make a "door across the bridge" folder appear)

Just some thoughts. Great job!

Fun game with a nice risk-reward system. The only problems are that there aren't many incentives to kill monsters apart from specific moments and that cul de sacs are annoying. Also love the art and the concept ;)

What a great game and fun concept. I love the randomness of it. It took me a bit to get the heat mechanic but once I did, I was unstoppable. I would love to see this expanded. Great work.

I made a video on the game if anyone wants to see:

Sick game. I found myself easily becoming overpowered for the later "floors", and in I could easily beat the final floor with the loot I had from a floor earlier, but other than that I loved it. The heat system is a great way to add a sense of "urgency" without a timer, and punish players who gets lost.

I had what I think was a small bug, where multiple music tracks would play at once, maybe the track is meant to be that chaotic, but it was definitely overwhelming audio wise.

Neat little game. I've taken to setting myself challenges for each run to add more variety, such as:

-Pyromania: Don't use any items that reduce heat; no ice cream, snowmen, hot flames, etc.

-One Hit Wonder: Don't use any max health upgrades.

-Respect for the Dead/ Actual Archaeology/ Five Second Rule: Don't loot any corpses/ Don't open any chests/ Don't pick up anything from the floor of the rooms.

-Not One Step Back: Never backtrack unless you've hit a dead end.

-Picky Earner: Only pick up stacks of coins that match your current floor, e.g. only pick up single coins on floor one, only pick up stacks of 6 on floor six.

I find it adds a lot of replayability and difficulty. Perhaps a future version of the game could implement an achievement system?

this is a lot of fun! thoroughly enjoyed. i'd love a longer or endless version as the gameplay loop is pretty addicting.

The aesthetics are great and it's fun to play. <3

What I really like is the cleanliness. What a list is for LISP, a file is for Folder Dungeon. Idk, if this game could be called homoiconic, but it feels like it.

i really enjoyed playing it

Very cool game!

Wow that was really cute. I was surprised by the depth of the mechanic of fighting the enemies in order. It was much more fun that I expected from up front. I got pretty good at it by the end x3. I liked the ending, the music, and the crunchy little effects. The overheating was a nice touch to balance the desire to explore every little corner, but I got good at balancing that risk with reward.

I wish the instructions were in the bottom description text and not just on the main screen/desktop. Didn't understand what the fire icon was until I started being damaged.

really unique take on a roguelite!!! very fun and super cute

This Is Honestly A really Neat Idea, The problem? I first tried it, Very easily. The heat system is Really good, but I never felt too much under pressure from it. But Thats fine, As this really seems to only be there so you don't just Grab EVERYTHING from a dungeon. However, I could see this being a full fledged Replayable Game, With some extra stuff. Heres my list:

1. Endless mode, Self explanitory, Would add a bunch of replay value.

2. Hard Mode, Simple, Enemy health and damage scale way harder, and your heat limit could be lower.

3. More floors/items, A basically just add more content to the base game, thats it.

But seriously, This is an incredible game, and I Could see this being on store shelves and steams home page, Keep up the good work!

Amazing!!

Hey! Hope you don't mind that I made a video off your game, love the art style and theme and everything lol The music fits in very well too. You should consider making this a larger game, more content would be great! Keep up the great work.

i would love to see more

(-1)

neat, but it could be better

I'd say it has a lot of potential

It's a cool idea but it would have been nice to have a conclusion or a victory screen

That was really neat.

Very nice for a quick. Will check your other stuff

(+5)

I really wish there was an infinite mode! It would be so much fun to just go infinitely, and it would add a lot more replayability. Maybe by making the enemies' health and damage scale based on the floor you're on? And removing the tony file and replacing it with another door to the next room!

Very Fun

(+1)

Wow this was cool.

I found it more effective to fight large groups by walking out of the room and back in.

Very cool concept, I love the art and colour palette

ez game

I love this game! Very cool concept, very easy to understand and learn!

(+1)

This was super cool!

Decent game, pretty easy and doesn't use much skill.

I noticed the sound track kept multiplying. Especially if you choose restart for a new game after winning. Multiple sound tracks running at the same time at different points of that ..."music" does not sound good. I wish there was a option to disable sound so we don't have to mute tab or whatever.

(+1)(-1)

Did I really have to go through all of this just to retrieve a picture of a boy and a cat labelled "tony.png"? I'm not sure if that is a "very important file", but it is an amazing game.

(1 edit) (+2)

Very awesome game! The only thing I wish were there was a way to know in which folders I was there before. But besides that very good job!

That's the point of the right click... you can mark the folders you went through.

i didnt notice this either!

(+2)

Yeah, I dunno what to tell you man... The game is fun XD. Because it's just a point and click everything happens so snappily. It's easy to show up in a room and be a loot goblin. I love it.

10/10 but its veery easy to beat, maybe a bit more variety of enemies would help it
