Background music and article reading: Whether in long or short articles, sad music has an improved effect on the reading efficiency of articles compared to cheerful music. Under the condition of sad background music, participants had shorter cognitive processing time, faster reading speed, lower cognitive load, and obtained more information from a single gaze reading.
