Honestly, I liked the old combat more, it was more based on skill than luck

The problem of the old system was that it clashed too much with the rest of the game.
You were playing a VN and then SUDDENLY PIXEL JRPG.
But something was needed for act 3. As it currently stands it is a bit unfair and too dependant on the mercy of RNGsus, but next update will add boosts and stuff.
Point is, that the new system doesn’t overstay its welcome and end up disconnecting with the rest of the game.
A simpler combat system will eventually lead for more story events. Which I’d dare to say is the main reason why most of us are here.
