TWO HOURS TO GO

Omg the main ship Kataang. Between Katra and Aang. SUCKS ASS.
Okay, to properly develop your ship you have to have something really important. Main pivot points that change the relationship in some way and drive it forward, and these main pivot points have to change the relationship in a way where if you were shown the pivot point then shown two different scenes one before and one after the pivot point, you could probably point out what came before and what came after without having watched the show or movie. But with Kataang, if you are shown something that SHOULD be a main pivot point, like The Cave of Two Lovers, then shown a scene before and after The Cave of Two Lovers and asked ro identify which came before and which after, unless you recently watched the show or just have it all memorized, you'd probably get it wrong. Why? Because their relationship, for the first two seasons, NEVER CHANGES. It always just reverts back to the status quo at the start of the next episode with no mention of what happened previously even though this is NOT a fully episodic show and things from previous episodes DO carry on to the next one
Yet the relationship goes LITERALLY NOWHERE, and this is done ON PURPOSE. YOURE PROBABLY WONDERING WHY, LET ME TELL YOU THE SENSATIONAL REASON! ITS IN ORDER FOR THERE TO BE A WILL THEY WONT THEY CHASE ๐
THATS GREAT SK WERE STARTING OFF STRONG WITH NOT DEVELOPING YOUR RELATIONSHIP AT ALL FOR LIKE 2 AND A HALF SEASONS! NEXT UP IS DEVELOPING YOUR RELATUONSHIP... BADLYYYY ๐
The first time they tried to do something ANYTYING with the relationship was the episode The Ember Island Players. The Ember Island Players play a scene where Katara and Zuko actually turn out to be in love, this is not what happened at all, obviously, since The Ember Island Players are meant to be bad actors and actresses who don't really know what happened in reality. Aang ends up being upset about it since he "loves" (we will talk about that some other time) Katara. Later on he leaves the theatre and Katara follows yk, so whatever, conversation stuff, and Katara says that it's not the right time for a relationship or something along those lines. The battle is close ahead and she's got a lot on her mind and everyone is very stressed. What does Aang do? Does he:
A. Respect her and leave her be until she's ready
B. Get upset abt the fact that his pretty princess perfect forever girl doesn't like him back even though that's literally not what she said
C. FUCKING KISS HER WITHOUT HER CONSENT
If oy guessed B, YOUD BE WRONG CAUSE ITS C ๐
So Katra, rightfully, leaves and Aang acknowledges that what he did was THE WORST THING HE POSSIBLY COULDVE by calling himself an idiot... cause HE IS. Now, thsi kiss, is it at all acknowledged for the rest of the season? ABSOLUTELY NOT. โค๏ธ
But that's not all. Just before the fight against the big kahuna in charge, king assface, dumb idiot. Aang GETS INTO AN ARGUMENT WITH KATARA FOR SOMWTHING NOT EVEN HER FAULT AND ALSO HES BEING A BITCH DURING THIS FIGHT THEN HE JUST FUCKING LEAVES. They don't see each other again until after the battle with the Fire Nation King. And with no words exchanged, the show ends with their kiss. NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THEIR FIGHT, NO IM SORRY OR ANYTHING, JUST OH HEY PERSON I WAS JUST HAVING A HUGE ARGUMENT WITH THAT COULD POTENTIALLY DESTROY OUR ENTIRE RELATIONSHIP *smooch smooch* LIKE WTF
YOU CAN SAY THE APOLOGY HAPPENED OFF SCREEN OR SOMETHING BUT AFTER THAT FIGHT I FEEL LIKE WE DESERVE TO SEE THE APOLOGY OURSELVES. IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. FOR A SHOW THAT ISNT AFRAID TO TACKLE SERIOUS TOPICS THEY CANT SEEM TO TALE THEIR MAIN RELATIONSHIP SERIOUSLY
