I mean this round should have been a win because we have the same pair but I have the highest card as well (or at least a tie)

Yeah, as far as I know there are no ties whatsoever. And now game is updated, such combinations as straight and flash have been added, which is now a little bit easier. But yeah, it's hard.
BUT, imho, its the challenge that makes it interesting. LAGS telling she'll give you best item in the game, and I think I will be forced to beat her again after update. And I'm down for it, cause the challenge is fun
