Hey, I tried it out on my device and it worked without issue. Did the game become unresponsive? It's possible you wrote a name longer than 10 characters, which is the current limit. It should then simply show the name input popup again.

I tried a little more, and the only way I've found to get it stuck is by entering a name that is only numbers. I have an idea on how to fix that issue, but I still haven't found the bug you encountered, I'll keep it in mind for later down the line, but if you have any extra information it'd be appreciated.
