Glad you like the game! The FPS issue is a hardware thing. The best way to get the game to run as it should, is to get your hands on an old Pentium-based PC. The Windows version will matter less.
And yes, it's buggy, and it requires some luck to get the right setup. We can't fix it. Sorry!
