Is there anyway tp update the android version of the game? Or do i need to delete the old one and completely start over?

Don’t delete, you lose your saves.

You update by downloading the new version’s APK and installing it as an update.

If you delete the app you lose your saves, unless you backup them which is a bit more complex.

I'm not  completely sure how to go about downloading it as an update. When i do it through the package installer it says its doing that but it always fails

It should work the same as when you installed it the first time.

Though, Android often likes to have extra space to install things.

Sometimes, people get better results if they install using SAI (Split APK Installer).

Since it at least shows you why the install failed. Instead of just telling you it did.

I download SAI and the reason it gave for download failure was "Display Name Column Is Null"

I got it downloaded i have no idea why it happened but the apk i was trying to download was a couple hundred mb bigger than it was supposed to be
