Mac version from itch.io won't launch

Hello.  I downloaded the Mac version 1.0 of The Aching from the itch.io page, but when I launch the game, it gives an error which says

“The Aching.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

Is the app not constructed properly, possibly?  I noticed that the UNIX executable was in the app bundle's Resource folder, instead of the standard MacOS folder.

In the meantime, I found it is possible to copy the contents of the floppy directory and then launch the game via DOSBox.

The binary isn’t signed, so you need to manually unquarantine it:

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Type: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/The Aching.app"
  3. Launch game

(you might need to adjust the location of the .app)

Thanks, that did the trick!  I noticed the _CodeSignature folder within the app bundle, so on initial glance it looked like the app was code signed.  I then did another test via the command line and did verify that it was not code signed properly.

Hiya! 👋 I'm one of the developers at Hadrosaurus Software, and wanted to swing-by to let you know that we've just released version 1.05, which includes some fixes including hopefully resolving this issue with the macOS build on Itch. You can download the new package now and hopefully it will launch it without issue 🤞 Please let us know if it's still broken, but we're confident and hopeful that we've squished that nasty bug.

Thanks, Lucy!

Great work, thanks!

PS: Just a minor feedback: The game reports v1.05, the README and CHANGE.log are still on v1.04
