an alternative would be ntsBlood for anyone who seems to have performance issues with this mod. you lose out on some of the misc functions but its quite easy to tweak if you're looking for the grittier blood effects of this mod.
this mod uses objects to place down stains, which is incredibly performance-heavy to leave them in the level, ntsBlood uses sprite drawing functions to overlay the image, which has effectively zero impact on performance as they do not need to be persistent in memory.
