This happened to me as well. Try to force stop the game then re-open it. When picking your preferred language, make sure it lights up or highlights. What I did afterwards was just tap the return button multiple times until it brought me to the main menu.
When it brings you there, if you hadn't bought extra features or you don't have a patreon code, you can just tap settings and you can see start option there and then you can begin playing. :) Hope that helps!
