Something more simple, we have a bow, a stick, a vine whip, sword, wooden spear, and I think the machine gun will be too much. So we can replace machine gun with some magic mushroom wand that will shoot just like you said
How about a wand that has 3 golden mushrooms stuck to it, named T.S.M.S. (The-Serial-Mushroom-Shooter). Also you can feed it to the Mushroom Dog, leaving you with just a wooden rod?
Now lets think about how we will use it. How about it's like a weapon that deals more damage while near the enemy? I mean 0.5 dmg while near enemy. How is that?
