Out of curiosity - what's the purpose of the second ship?I was able to just play without which felt a bit weird ( since I assume people I tried to help died on there :/ )
Each additional subs gives you an extra attack per turn. Smaller ones are also able to access caves that are too narrow for the big ones.
The more subs you have at the end of the game the better the ending you get.
