There's a difference between having politics and preaching authors political views.
Easy example of just having politics, is the good ol' Deus Ex, or theexcellent F: New Vegas.
Video games had politics for a long time, just didn't have try to change your worldview in such a blatant manner, instead trying to make you make you make your own conclusions.
Isn't that what good art also does?
