I had that problem the first time, too. I just tried again a few hours later. If possible, you should set your antivirus to exclude https://itch.io/, as well as thelucidiachronicles.zip, and the extracted contents' install location, from being blocked/searched, so as to avoid false-positives (or, I guess, a 'false-negative', in this case, since viruses are bad :shudder: )

Also, I feel I should point out that this game is extremely difficult, and will unmercifully punish anything short of perfection in combat (exploration is also well-rewarded; treasure chests lie on every map, except for dream/vision sequences, often in out-of-the-way and hard-to-reach places, and almost always contain valuable items, such as restoratives/curatives and gear, also money quite often). The combat itself is in the 'Active-Time Battle' (ATB) system; specifically, an 'ongoing' ATB system, where enemy turn gauges keep filling even while selecting actions for the party (I also feel I should point out that there's no 'auto-healing' in-between battles). Personally, I could deal with all that, if the enemies themselves weren't so tough right from the beginning. The very first enemy you encounter (in random encounters, no less), the wasp, can poison (called 'toxic' in this game) a single character for pretty decent damage at such an early point (less than 10 minutes of story out of 30 hours total), while the second enemy, the slime, usually deals 6 damage to a single character (which adds up over the course of several battles). And bosses are absolutely ruthless, and that's putting it mildly; you will encounter your very first boss on the very first random-encounter map. It's something along the lines of a giant, man-eating plant that can poison the entire party for very high damage, with a strong normal attack as well. And the entrance to the very first dungeon is right at the end of the very first random-encounter map. The enemies here are rats and bats (no joke, 'least not on my part), both of which hit hard (damage in the teens, which, again, really adds up, even if you did some extra battles for grinding; the only break here is that they don't inflict status ailments); however, the real danger here is a rare, fire-elemental-type enemy that can appear in random battles, which are completely immune to physical damage. Unfortunately, there are no spell-casters in your party at this time (in fact, you won't get an offencive spell-caster until much later in the game; your first spell-caster is a healer, whose abilities you probably won't get to make much use of, since she has very low HP, ATK, and DEF, and, thus, dies quickly), and only Orin's special, offencive ability seems to damage them, but the two characters that you have at this time only have enough MP for one use of one special ability, and you only have a few MP-restoring items at this point from treasure chests, with absolutely no way to buy more until you've found the hexagram with a dead girl in the middle in the cave. In the third random-encounter area, just south of the brothers' home-town, you will encounter giant snakes, and even more of them in the fourth random-encounter area. These snakes hit hard, with a decent chance of inflicting a potent poison with each attack. You gain a healer on the fourth random-encounter map, but, as aforementioned, she won't be of much help. It was at this point that I quit, though I certainly wish you much better luck and hope that you enjoy it much more than I had!

P.S. If you do manage to download and extract the .zip, be sure to download the run-time package (RTP) that Mangal2012 linked to, below. Also, you may try downloading the game from the official RPGMaker forum, which, for whatever reason, doesn't need the RTP.

Thanks for some tips, I appreciate you pointing out the much difficult stuff in the game and spending minutes of your life by typing it. Although,  you say its ruthless.......... I'm getting more curious about it. Anyway thanks again.... :):):)
