how do i get past the explody thing
There are two possible solutions:
1. Eat very little at a time, escaping just before each explosion. This is tricky and takes some time to get working, but once you get the hang of it it's not very difficult (see video here)
2. Get to day 3 with enough energy so that you can just wait and not even try to eat anything. For that you need to eat only one of the two crops on night 1 (to let the other one grow to be more mature). Then on night 2 eat the mature crop and two of the other, non mature crops. If you do that, you will have almost full energy on night 3 and you could just wait in the bushes and stay away from the explosions.
