I really liked this! The imagery you used was stunning and the atmosphere was great. Really made it feel like an old school adventure story. I'm curious to learn more about the world.

Something I was kinda left wanting was more diversity with the portrait choices, as well as shorter paragraphs on some screen to make reading more enjoyable. I also noticed that the screen was flickering to back when switching the background imagery, is that something you're looking to fix? I had that issue myself before.

The item selection at the beginning was a nice way to create branching possibilities later down the line; really good idea there!

Thank you very much for the lovely feedback! <3

You are absolutely right about diversity in the portraits. After uploading, I also had the thought that there were too few male characters and different ethnicities represented. I will change a few of them. I would have preferred a completely individualised character creation, but Twine and my skills don't allow for that yet.

The flickering of the background images is indeed a nuisance that I haven't solved yet. The images are already scaled down, but they do not load in the browser for a smooth gameplay. I have tried to counteract this with a preload function from chapel. Unfortunately without any visible success. When you say you also had this problem, did you find a solution for it?

Nevertheless, I'm glad you liked it and I hope the following chapters will do as well:)

I did find a solution for the flickering, my own game also uses a lot of visual. I assume it's not present in your offline version, so this is a browser issue? I have a preloader created by Avajarvis and modified by TheMadExile, it's first on the credit list here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1751yvUabwDGyxF8K8uLeFdPdveKtrloyjyCrgQ3ryxU/...

I also use a loading screen when the game is first launched: https://twinery.org/cookbook/loadscreen/sugarcube/sugarcube_loadscreen.html
