I just finished it up to current about 30 min ago. The Patreon page that opens when you click on the last image in-game, shows that S2 is already out for "Patrons".
Seeing the time spread of the comments & replies is making me believe that the Devs are either: Putting finishing touches and releasing soon, waiting on a certain content amount to drop a bunch of chapters at once, or (most likely) RL crap caught up with them and they're not able to work on it as much as they did/want to.
I'm going with option 3 because there's simply too much time put in quality, quantity, and time-consuming work on dialogue content.
I seriously doubt, IMO, that things will ever be in the 4th category of abandonment.
