Uh let's say you wnat X from the equation uh...
4X+5-9 = 12 so you want to take th nine and move it to the other side of the equal sign, that nine will take it's friend the subtraction sign as a guest but it has to change to the opposite operation, the plus, or else it can't pass. So now
4X+5 = 12+9 you keep going from left to right until nothing but X- and whatever it's multiplied or divided by- is left. So at the end you get
4X = 12+9-5 and so now you solve the side that doesn't have X. 12+9-5 = 16 so 16 = 4X
Now that 4X is a proper number not and unknown variable you can move the times to the other side of the equal sign and make it a division symbol.
16 ÷ 4 = X
X = 4
I'd if that makes sense. Just do the opposite operations to the ones done on X on the answer of the equation and do them backwards so you can get X. Does that make sense? I'm not sure
