attic route seems bugged on this version. After selecting the window frame falls on her, I get a couple of dialogue boxes and then nothing happens. This is without tampering with it in the morning

Yes, I am using an old save
Old saves don't have the new variables instantiated, so they only work if newer scenes don't check for new variables. The re-do of the attic does.
Edit: In this particular case, you should be able to instantiate the variable by tampering with the window at least once.
