I made it so it tells you the story every time you mess up a certain number of times, ten I think. So if you mess up and get reset a few more times it should loop back around and tell you the story again. But also the story is literally just the standard story of the Chinese zodiac if you wanted to just look it up.

But, if the problem you're having specifically is you're going from Sheep to Rooster, that's the trickiest bit. If you look at the zodiac, there's a certain animal missing from the caves. And there's a particular cave that has no animal associated with it...

hate to be that guy, but how do I actually get to the monkey cave? I wasn't able to find it after an absurd amount of time, so I'm sure I was doing something wrong, but I feel like I tried every room.

This is off the top of my head rather than checking but there should be a door to the monkey cave from the boar cave, and maybe a couple of others. The connections between the caves actually foreshadow connections between the characters. It’s a little difficult to tell because of how crowded the walls in each cave are, but if there’s an image of an animal that *isn’t* the one that the room is associated with, the door closest to it should lead to that animal’s room. Doors that lead to the monkey room won’t have any markings like that, or suspiciously thick moss growing where that mark would likely have been.
