Also, changing the keyboard layout software-side doesn't work (either for the Linux version or for the Windows version running on Linux via Wine). It just assumes I'm still using Dvorak, which means trying to play with WASD is like a QWERTY user trying to play with ,A;H. Using the arrow keys is just way more awkward since most of the rest of the keys are centered around the WASD area (would be the ,AOE area on Dvorak), and I'd ideally like to keep my right hand open for reasons that should be obvious. I might eventually try and figure out some way to simulate a gamepad (I'm sure some clever bastard somewhere has done it before) so I can use the keys I want that way, but it's just too much work for right now.
