This game is too hard -- easy mode?

Hey, I love the game. Seriously.

I have no bugs to report, except to say that the game is very VERY hard.

I'm probably too old for your target audience (late 20's) but I love the art of look of plenty of indie games and it's a pity that so many are just so... hard and require a hand-eye coordination that I don't have anymore. I'd guess even older people would have trouble with it, so perhaps consider an easy mode? (at least for the final build)

I don't think you should focus on that today or any time soon, but I do think that just saying that an easy mode *will* eventually make it would reassure a lot of people.

Again, I don't want to sound like a complaint-pants. I really do think you have a solid game here. I'd just like to play it upon release!

Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback. This is something I think is worth considering. I've thought about maybe implementing some kind of Accessibility feature that lets you skip portions that require a lot of dexterity. Personally, I really like the difficulty. It's just a part of what I find appealing about games. That said, I know that what I'm creating is designed to be inviting and immersive for its own sake, the environments, story etc. So I agree, it would be wonderful if I were able to offer an experience that allows people to enjoy that without demanding a high level of skill and finesse on the input side.

I will say that at this stage it's not a priority as far as the level designs go, but I believe that it's worth taking time before release to figure something out that makes the most sense. I'm sure I'll be able to resolve it somehow, in a way that feels suitable and not too much of an afterthought.

Thanks again :)

Perfect!

And yes, I'm 100% with you that it shouldn't be your priority now.

Keep at it, I like what you've done so far.

the screenshot by ldd is exactly where i'm stuck also. I've learned how to attack the spiders to get a jump/boost, but the timing on the last couple of bugs at the top is FAR too fast for an old timer like myself. I've been trying to get it for a couple of hours, i just can't even see the screen now. Falling allllll the way to the bottom when missing those top jumps is so frustrating. I understand making things difficult, i do, but those jumps have to be perfect to succeed and it's really killing me to not be able to get it. difficult is fine, but 2 hours on a single section, over a matter of dexterity/timing is kinda crazy. Even if there was a way to use honey to make my feet sticky, like a recipe with 20 honey for sticky shoes... so that i could land a wall jump, stick, rest, get my bearings, and try the next jump, that would be something. 20 honey isn't trivial to get, and they could maybe have a limited lifetime/durability/special ability meter, something like that... Even like climbing spikes, wheat, 4 honey pots, and a claw... throw us greyhairs a bone :)

anyways, ive been binging your YT channel and loving the pixel art stuff. Insignia is looking great, so nostalgic and fun. Really enjoying it. Keep up the great work!

nevermind I figured it out.

and the game crashed and deleted all my progress.............

Games aren't good unless they are have harder mechanics involved... Learn the character, and use his abilities. I mean, did you ever beat Sonic on Sega Genesis? They never gave any handicaps. I am almost 40, it took me some time but I figured it out. Don't give up and whine on it, The game even gave tips on how to jump attack before the scene so use it to gain distance.
