I find myself spending 90% of my time micro-managing repairs in late-game. This is incredibly annoying and makes me want to just do something else.

use "Drone auto repair" policy and you dont have to deal with it.

Just keep in mind that the repair cost is somewhat expensive 50% of structure cost (sometimes you have to repair them when they just lost 10% durability).

Thanks, having it automated at least reduces the hassle, but I feel like perhaps this should be the default.
