Sometimes android is weird, it may ask up to 4 or 5 GB of free space to install a 1GB apk.
But I would suggest downloading Split APK Installer from the playstore or wherever you get your apps from.
And using that to install the game, if it fails it wil at least tell you why, but for some people it works right away.
