I'm on Android, and there does not seem to be a way to get back to the game from the devouts or status tabs of the menu. The back buttons simply don't do anything.

Hi there, my apologies for that. That's the main problem with the android version of this system - can you try double tapping the screen for now? That's the system's way of going back to the previous screen. We'll figure out a workaround for this in the meantime!
And to confirm first - in the Status and Devout screens, you can click on all the other links there (Kinks, etc.) but not the Back button? Or are all the links affected?
I am also having a problem escaping the Stats menu - I am running a 64bit, Windows 10 PC. I've gotten out of the menu before, but now I'm stuck. Every time I load my save file, it brings me back to the stat menu. Hitting ESC only brings up the inventory, quest, etc menu, but does not return me to the game.
I really don't want to lose my progress by starting a new file.

Hmm. I wish I could help but I play on PC. It took me FOREVER to figure out how to go back too though and it took a lot of finagling to figure out that I had to right click on the screen somewhere.
That said, I've also noticed that I need to save regularly - because sometimes yeah, there's a bug or something where if I try to view my stats, or another one of my tabs in the menu - mostly stats, but I think one other as well... kinks maybe... it just. Will not let me leave. You can hit the "backspace" button (in my case the right click) all you want but it just shifts between those tabs and there is no way to return to the game unless you load a previous save. I lost a good few days' worth of progress that way and ever since then I save literally every single time I enter a city, sleep for a night, or finish some sort of quest haha.
I'm sorry you're having that trouble too! Hopefully there's a fix for it. ^^
I'm having the exact same problem as QueerAnarchistFox has, I'm playing on a windows PC and I'm stuck on the status section. It's been driving me insane for the past 20 minutes. I have no choice but to start a new game because of this.
Seriously annoying bug, I would recommend adding a panic button to the menu so we can get teleported to the nearest town to debug it.
