Congrats on finishing the Jam!
At first, like the others, I also am not sure on what to do, after some button smashing, have only just found the dash button (it's F for those wondering).
Also, to make the instructions more clear, you need to guess if the number is higher or lower than 6, not the exact number.
All in all, a pretty unique experience.
