---SPOILERS---

The first night is empty. The second and third nights represent the deaths of Samantha's son then her husband, during these nights the notes change to reveal letters to Samantha from an unknown source. The fourth night starts abruptly with Samantha being awakened in bed, it's the first night that doesn't start with Samantha leaving her studio (as seen at the end of the final night). This is because she has lost control, the friend/neighbor in the letters is aware of the murders, she isn't safe in her own home, and has to leave. She travels to the neighbors house and kills him (breaking the TV). However she failed to murder him before he could report it to the authorities. The final night you play as a detective investigating Samantha (as seen by the warrant) who is then murdered by Samantha. However this is still told through Samantha's perspective as she is the one retelling the story to the interrogator, hence the hallucinations. Perspective changes back to Samantha's, as she starts the night leaving the studio door. Police surround the house, so she attempts, and fails, to commit suicide, leaving the large scar across her face.

The game cuts back to the interrogation from the beginning. Samantha then tells the interrogator in the final interview that despite being caught, her crimes will always haunt the interrogator. This is because she is referring to how the interrogator failed to prevent the other officer from going alone to investigate Samantha (the note on the warrant) making the interrogator liable for the death of the officer.

And then the game ends.

I appreciate this is a much longer explanation of the story than for what you were asking for, but I wanted to put it out here because there's alot of misconceptions online, even some of those "story explained" videos get a couple minor details wrong. Anyway, I hope this helped!
