I don't really go in the mountains/forests because I'm a chicken. I'd rather go on the paths which has less risk and also is faster because I won't get approached by The Orkind gang every two steps. Also my ocd says "Stay in the dead center of the path and use as little movement squares as possible" because my brain keeps telling me the movement is like in chess. when it's not.

Well, if you can't escape it then just fight it, you can drink 2 bottles of beer to gain maximum damage outputs and use Halberd for dealing with goblins, Bandits will be a little harder, you can learn the "Backstab" technique using the dagger weapon in the game to one shot them one by one.
