Yes, I went back to collect more collectables and did not accept going to the next area and died then I was loaded into some strange place then I went to menu and loaded he game again to see if it fixed but it got worse.
Your game was saved at an elevator :) You can go back to the elevator, and then you will be loaded back to the old zone. The elevator has a small cooldown phase, so it takes a few seconds until you can use it a second time :) I know it's confusing, I'll tackle this next week and change it a bit.
