I'm interested in this program, but I'm using Linux. I want to try running it in WINE or some derivative thereof, but I don't want to spend time creating assets for something that won't work for me.

Yup! HONK comes with 5 different characters to choose from! But it's also super easy to set one up with random pictures as long as you have a body and eyes (and you can grab the mouth shapes from one of the characters already included in the program so you don't have to design them!)
