If things don't go wrong, you shouldn't have to.
On PC/Mac you can download the game again and it will automatically detect the previous version's saves.
(Also I heavily recommend using the itch.io app to keep the game updated with just hitting a button.)
On Android, as long as you don't uninstall the app it will be fine.
To update you download the new version APK and install it as an update.
